Void 1.1 Viridian Ebay Haul
Today marks the start of a series of articles focused on a Void 1.1 project that I’ve started (actually, as of the writing of this article, I am halfway done!). I picked up a sizeable collection of viridians for a very reasonable price, some of which are fully painted and based. I already own a few of these guys, but the sculpts are great and frankly when it comes to small companies in the wargaming ecosystem, there is always the fear that one day they will go out of print, never to be seen again (Anima tactics, Zandris IV and Warzone- twice).
Here is an example of some of the painted miniatures, perfectly serviceable if you ask me. The regular troopers are in grey and tan whilst the special forces are in green and grey. For the most part I intend to carry on with this scheme. I expect that my paintjobs will not match exactly, as I like to use washes (unlike the previous owner) and my highlights are much less subtle. One interesting feature of the original owner’s painting style is that the weapons were based in black and then flat surfaces were covered in a mid tone grey, producing an effect that is part black wash and part “highlight” with pure black, almost a cel shading effect. I wouldn’t have guessed that it would look as good as it does.
