Bristol Anime and Gaming Convention

Held at the Grand Mercure Hotel in the centre of Bristol, the Bristol Anime and Gaming con was an event that I almost didn’t even go to.

The venue was quite cramped, with the hallways between function rooms constantly being flooded with people, probably because the one way system was not clearly labelled at all. Worse, the disabled access ramps, placed to allow wheelchair access to the lifts, were so long that they projected into the hallway, blocking the access of the people it was supposed to help. Not Ideal.

On a more positive note there were plenty of events going on and the there were a significant number of retro consoles available for people to use. There was also a lot of high quality cosplay at the event, though I didn’t stick around for the judging. The quiz did not seem particularly well attended, but it had a large room assigned to it and the quiz runner seemed quite engaged and animated. Unlike Edinburgh comic con, I did make some purchases, in the form of two art prints.

Overall an interesting event that made me appreciate the venue for Edinburgh \comic con more. I would consider going again but it would need to be with friends and later on in the day.
