More Battletech

It has been quite some time since Battletech has appeared on this blog. Time to change that.

I’ve started a new mech company using a camouflage scheme inspired by the British world war 2 desert camo “Caunter”. An interesting thing about this colour scheme is that the real historical pattern contained no blue and was in fact tan and green, with later imitations and recreations erroneously using shades of blue. You can see that I have substituted a number of catalyst games models for alternative 3D prints (Centurion and cicada) and old iron wind metal’s highlander.

Next up we have the comm star lance with some more iron wind miniatures to round out the group (the Uziel, right middle and the Red Shift, front left). This was my first time doing a split pattern since trying to paint Novamarines as a nine year old. The King crab is my absolute favourite of the bunch, lots of visible flat area for weathering. It also has a great big panel line going right down the middle, which makes it especially well suited to a 50/50 colour scheme like this.

The next group is a hodge podge of different mechs. I quite like all of these, except for the atlas, which I feel I did not do justice with the plain red. There is in fact a gradient in the reds, but its barely visible on camera.

Lastly, we have an old metal Marauder. This thing weigh’s an absolute ton and the centre of gravity is quite high with those long legs. I have to say though that the pose is very dynamic considering the contemporaries mostly have a static “power squat” going on.
